Claudia Hecht (b. 1965) is a Mexican painter and sculptor whose work has been exhibited throughout Mexico, Central America, Europe, and the United States. Raised in a family deeply connected to the art world, she was exposed from an early age to a wide range of artistic traditions that would later shape her distinctive visual language. Drawing inspiration from pre-Columbian culture, Latin American spirituality, and the legacy of modern Latin American masters such as Rufino Tamayo, Frida Kahlo, and Diego Rivera, Hecht developed a unique style characterized by hybrid figures, abstract forms, and themes rooted in Mexican identity and symbolism. Although primarily known as a painter, Hecht began her artistic career in sculpture, working with terracotta, wood, and high-relief techniques. In 1994, she moved to Rome, where she studied 18th-century gilded painting, an experience that profoundly influenced her practice. The integration of metallic leaf, vivid color, and sculptural relief became a defining element of her work and laid the foundation for her contribution to Pictorial Sculpture Art, a technique that merges painting and sculpture through relief compositions on canvas, wood, and glass. Her work explores themes of consciousness, spirituality, and inner transformation through richly textured surfaces and vibrant, symbolic imagery.
