Guillermo Ceniseros

Biografía

Guillermo Ceniceros (husband of the artist and printmaker Esther Gonzales) is one of the most respected Mexican painters and muralists, whose large-scale sight-specific works grace numerous public buildings throughout Mexico and the Latin Americas. The subject of more than three hundred solo exhibitions in Mexico and around the world, recipient of prestigious international awards and honours, Ceniceros is also a renowned philanthropist: his donation allowed the state of Durango to establish a fine art museum. While Ceniceros’s large-scale murals are dominated mainly by figurative social-realist style, his easel paintings and prints display a greater degree of experimentation. His etching represent the fusion of two of his most favoured subjects: the landscape and the female form.
