Jorge Robelo

Biografía

Jorge Robelo studied at the National School of Plastic Arts of the UNAM. His work has been influenced by great artists such as: Gunther Gerzso and Manuel Felguérez. Robelo explores resources that go beyond two-dimensionality, both for its optical representation, and for its experienced mathematical precision. His work is sequential, and his themes explore the possibilities that the circle has as an infinite shape. His instruments are the pencil, the compass, the inks and the paper, which by the way, prefers as an exclusive support, due to its particular resistance to the incisions and traces produced by the drawing that is repeatedly framed within his filigree-looking compositions. Jorge Robelo considers himself a Baroque minimalist.
